Cancellation Policy
24-Hour Risk-Free Cancellation
If you book directly with Delta (via delta.com, Fly Delta app, phone, or ticket
office):
You can cancel within 24 hours of purchase for a full refund with no
cancellation fee, no matter the fare type.
This typically applies if the ticket was purchased at least 7 days before
departure (and must be canceled before midnight the next calendar day).
Refund Policy
Refundable fares (e.g., refundable Main Cabin, First Class, Delta One with
refundable terms) can be canceled any time prior to departure for a full refund
to the original form of payment.
Refunds are issued back to your payment method once processed.
Non-Refundable Tickets
Most non-refundable fares (including Delta Main Basic, Classic, etc.) do NOT
qualify for a cash refund after the 24-hour risk-free period.
If you cancel prior to departure, you will receive the unused ticket value as an
eCredit, minus any cancellation/change fee per the fare rules.
The eCredit expires 1 year from the ticket issue date, unless your fare states
otherwise.
Schedule Changes & Cancellations by Delta
If Delta cancels your flight or there’s a significant schedule change (e.g.,
hours difference), you can choose:
• Rebooking on another Delta flight, or
• Refund of the unused portion (even for non-refundable tickets), or
eCredit good for future travel.
Even if you do nothing within 24 hours, Delta may automatically refund your
unused ticket value.
No-Show Policy
If you fail to cancel before the flight departs:
• For non-refundable tickets, you typically lose the remaining value (no refund
or eCredit), and any subsequent flights in your itinerary may be canceled.
• Always cancel before departure to retain value.
Refund Timing
• Refunds to a credit/debit card: usually within 7 business days after approval.
• Refunds to cash/check/other payments: up to 20 days.
• eCredits appear in your Delta account once issued.
