Passengers travelling with Etihad Airways are permitted to carry the following:

Carry-on Baggage

Passengers travelling with Etihad Airways are entitled to free cabin baggage. The exact allowance depends on class of travel:

Economy Class: One cabin bag up to 7 kg total weight, maximum dimensions 56 × 36 × 23 cm.

Business, First and The Residence: Two cabin bags with a combined weight of up to 12 kg, each not exceeding 56 × 36 × 23 cm.

You may also be permitted a separate smaller item (e.g., laptop bag) depending on your fare and route details.

Infants (7 days – 23 months) can carry one cabin bag up to 5 kg. Pushchairs, carrycots or car seats may be carried free of charge but must meet size/weight limits.

(Carry‑on rules are subject to route and fare conditions - always check your ticket details.)

Checked Baggage Allowance

Etihad checked baggage allowance varies by route, fare type and frequent‑flyer status and is best confirmed via your booking or the Manage Your Booking tool.

The airline uses a piece concept: you are allowed a certain number of pieces of checked baggage with weight limits, depending on fare and route.

The allowances for international flights include one or two checked bags, each with a maximum weight of 32 kg per bag and maximum dimensions not exceeding standard aircraft limits.

Passengers who booked their ticket before 16 April 2024 may have a different allowance shown on their booking confirmation.

The exact number and weight of bags allowed must be checked in your booking details or at etihad.com/manage.

Extra Baggage

If your checked baggage exceeds your free allowance or you want to add luggage:

• Purchase extra baggage online (via Manage Your Booking) up to 30 hours before departure to save up to ~65% compared with airport rates.

• Extra baggage charges are based on route and whether it’s sold by weight (per 5 kg) or per piece (e.g., to/from the USA/Canada).

• Oversized items (e.g., dimensions over standard limits) may incur additional fees.

• You may use Etihad Guest miles to pay for extra baggage, or add allowance through customer support.

• All extra baggage payments are non‑refundable once purchased.

For more details on the baggage policy, please contact the Etihad Airways Kuala Lumpur Office at Tel: +603 8408 1257 (General Contact / Reservations) or get in touch with your nearest ticketing agent.
