Jalan Sultan is a short street in
the inner city of Kuala Lumpur and within the Chinatown vicinity. Even
though it may not be as well known by tourists in comparison to its starlet
cousin, Petaling Street, which is located
within the vicinity, it is definitely exciting although not for the faint
hearted. Jalan Sultan was one of the earliest settlements for those who
flocked to the city. You will find budget accommodation Swiss Inn right in the heart of bustling Jalan Sultan and there are two famous Hainanese chicken rice shops along Jalan Sultan which is Nam Heong and Kam Kee. |

While a number of these pre-war historical shophouses are left in a sorry state of disrepair, a lot of them have been rejuvenated and converted into beautiful cafe, fashion stores and small shops. In 2013, there was public furore when Lok Ann Hotel was compulsorily acquired by the government for the development of the MRT. Things have died down somewhat since then and life goes on along the busy street that is adjacent to the bustling Chinatown. | |
