Chiang Mai International Airport

Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX) is the main international gateway to northern Thailand, located approximately 4 km southwest of Chiang Mai city center. As one of the country’s busiest regional airports, it serves both domestic and international flights, connecting Chiang Mai with major cities across Thailand as well as destinations in East Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia.

The airport operates a single terminal complex divided into domestic and international sections, designed to handle arrivals and departures efficiently. Facilities include check in counters, self service kiosks, immigration and customs services, baggage claim areas, airline lounges, retail shops, and duty free outlets. Food and beverage options include cafés, fast food, and Thai and international restaurants. Free Wi Fi is available throughout the terminal, along with ATMs, currency exchange services, car rental counters, and tourist information desks to assist travelers.

Airlines operating at CNX include Thai Airways, Thai VietJet Air, Thai AirAsia, Bangkok Airways, Nok Air, Scoot, AirAsia, China Eastern Airlines, EVA Air, Korean Air, and HK Express. These airlines offer a mix of full service and low cost options. Destinations include Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, and Hat Yai domestically, as well as international routes to cities such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Seoul, Shanghai, and select destinations in China and South Asia, depending on seasonal schedules.

Transportation

Travelers can reach Chiang Mai city center easily by taxis, airport limousines, red songthaews, and ride hailing services such as Grab. The short distance means travel time is usually under 15 minutes. Public buses operate on limited routes, while private transfers and hotel shuttle services are commonly available for added convenience.
