Facilities
Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport has multiple passenger terminals
to handle arrivals and departures. Terminal 1 currently handles most
international services, while Terminal 2 is a newly expanded international
terminal designed to increase capacity and improve passenger experience. A
separate domestic terminal (Terminal 3) serves internal flights.
The
airport offers a range of traveler amenities. Within the terminals, passengers
can find check‑in counters, immigration and customs processing, baggage claim
services, duty‑free and retail shops, restaurants, cafés, and lounges.
Additional services include currency exchange counters, ATMs, free and paid
Wi‑Fi, prayer rooms, medical assistance, information desks, and facilities for
passengers with reduced mobility. VIP lounges and premium waiting areas are also
available for eligible passengers.

the national carrier, which connects Colombo with major cities across Asia, the
Middle East, Europe, and Australia. Other key international carriers include
Emirates,
Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, and
Thai Airways, providing
important connections to regional and long-haul destinations.

such as Flydubai and Air Arabia also operate flights, offering additional
budget-friendly options for travelers. This combination of full-service and
low-cost airlines ensures broad connectivity for both business and leisure
travelers.
Transportation
Travelers can reach Colombo and surrounding areas from the airport by various
ground transport options. Official taxis are available 24 hours a day from
counters in the arrival lobby, and ride‑hailing apps such as PickMe and Uber
also operate at the airport.
Expressway bus services and public buses connect
the airport to Colombo’s central bus stations, and hotel‑arranged private
transfers are commonly used. Car rental services are located within the
terminal.
