Tan Son Nhat International Airport

Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) is the largest and busiest airport in Vietnam, serving Ho Chi Minh City and the surrounding region. It is located in Tân Bình District, approximately 6 to 8 kilometers north of the city center, making it a convenient gateway for both domestic and international travel.

The airport operates 24 hours a day and handles a high volume of passengers and flights connecting Vietnam with destinations across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.

Facilities

Tan Son Nhat International Airport features multiple passenger terminals designed to handle arrivals and departures. Terminal 1 primarily serves domestic flights within Vietnam, while Terminal 2 handles international flights with a modern facility that includes duty‑free shops, restaurants, cafés, lounges, and passenger services. A newer domestic Terminal 3 has also opened to help accommodate growing traffic and improve passenger convenience.

Within the terminals, travelers can access check‑in counters, immigration and customs services, baggage claim areas, retail outlets, currency exchange booths, ATMs, free Wi‑Fi, and travel assistance desks. Shuttle services operate between terminals, and designated areas provide taxi, ride‑hailing, and bus connections for onward travel.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport is a major hub for Vietnam’s national carriers and low‑cost airlines, including Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, and Bamboo Airways, which operate extensive domestic services as well as international routes. In addition, the airport welcomes a broad range of international carriers linking Ho Chi Minh City with major cities across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Australasia. These airlines provide both full‑service and budget travel options, ensuring strong connectivity for passengers traveling for business, tourism, and leisure.

Transportation

Travelers can reach Ho Chi Minh City’s downtown and other destinations by a variety of ground transport options. Official metered taxis from reputable companies such as Vinasun and Mai Linh are available outside the terminals, and ride‑hailing services like Grab offer convenient app‑based pick‑ups.

Public buses and dedicated airport shuttle services connect the airport to central city locations, including popular areas such as District 1 and Ben Thanh Market. The journey to the city center typically takes around 15 to 20 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.
