Rajiv Gandhi International Airport

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) is the main international gateway to Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, India. Located approximately 24 km south of Hyderabad city centre in Shamshabad, it is one of India’s busiest airports, serving both domestic and international flights and connecting the region to major cities across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North America.

The airport operates a modern integrated passenger terminal handling both domestic and international departures and arrivals. Facilities include check-in counters, self-service kiosks, e-gates, immigration and customs services, baggage claim, airline lounges, and premium services.

Passengers have access to duty-free shops, retail outlets, pharmacies, and a wide selection of cafés, quick-service restaurants, and full-service dining options featuring both Indian and international cuisine. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal. Additional amenities include ATMs, currency exchange counters, medical services, child-care rooms, prayer rooms, and travel assistance desks.

Major airlines operating at HYD include IndiGo, Air India, Qatar Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, and Singapore Airlines.

Destinations include major Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai, as well as international hubs like Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, London (via connections), and other Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian cities.

Transportation

Travelers can reach Hyderabad city centre via airport taxis, app-based ride services such as Uber and Ola, and pre-paid taxi counters within the terminal. The Pushpak Airport Liner (operated by TSRTC) provides regular bus services to key locations across the city. Car rental services and private transfers are also available. Typical travel time to central Hyderabad ranges from 30 to 60 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
