to Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea port city of Jeddah, located approximately 19 km north
of the city center. As the busiest airport in the country and a key hub for
travel to the Islamic holy cities of Mecca and Medina, the airport serves both
domestic and international flights to destinations across the Middle East,
Africa, Asia, Europe, and beyond.
It is named after King Abdulaziz Al Saud, the
founder of modern Saudi Arabia, and plays a crucial role in accommodating
millions of passengers each year, including a huge surge during the annual Hajj
and Umrah pilgrimages.
Facilities
King Abdulaziz International Airport is equipped with modern passenger
facilities designed to ensure comfort and convenience. The airport complex
includes several terminals with Terminal 1 serving most international and
domestic flights, as well as dedicated North, South, and expansive Hajj
terminals for pilgrimage traffic. Within the terminals, travelers can find check
in counters, immigration and customs services, baggage handling, lounges, duty
free shops, retail outlets, restaurants, and cafés.

throughout much of the airport, and additional services include currency

The national carrier Saudia uses the airport as a major hub alongside other Saudi‑based airlines like Flynas and Flyadeal. Ongoing infrastructure developments, such as the future Haramain High‑Speed
Railway connection, aim to further improve access to and from the airport.
