Jinnah International Airport

Jinnah International Airport (KHI) is Pakistan’s largest and one of its busiest international gateways, serving the city of Karachi, the country’s largest metropolis and commercial hub. Located in the Mingaladon area of Karachi in the Sindh province, Jinnah International Airport handles both domestic and international flights and acts as a key aviation hub for the region.

It is named after Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, and is managed by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority. In recent years, the airport has continued operations with growing passenger volumes and ongoing infrastructure and service developments.

The airport’s main passenger operations are centered around the Jinnah Terminal complex, where international and domestic flights are processed. Airlines

Jinnah International Airport is served by a mix of domestic and international airlines. The national flag carrier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), uses Karachi as one of its primary hubs, alongside other Pakistani carriers such as airblue and SereneAir. International airlines including Emirates and Turkish Airlines operate scheduled services, connecting Karachi with key destinations across the Middle East, South Asia, and beyond. This network supports both regional travel and longer international connections.

Transportation

Travelers can reach central Karachi and surrounding areas using a variety of ground transport options. Official prepaid taxis and ride‑hailing services such as Uber and Careem are available around the clock at the airport, offering direct transport into the city. Public bus services also connect the airport with Karachi’s urban core, and minibuses provide a low‑cost alternative.

While there’s no direct train service to the terminal building itself, the Karachi Airport Railway Station lies a short distance away, and the larger Karachi Cantonment Railway Station offers broader rail connectivity across Pakistan. Parking facilities and car rental counters are available for those arriving by car or preferring self‑drive options.
