Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) is Spain’s largest and busiest international airport, located approximately 12 km northeast of Madrid city center. Serving as the primary gateway to Spain’s capital, it is a major European and intercontinental hub, connecting Spain to destinations across Europe, Latin America, North America, Africa, and Asia. The airport is a key hub for Iberian and transatlantic travel.

Madrid Barajas Airport has four passenger terminals T1, T2, T3, and T4, with T4 and its satellite building T4S handling many long haul and hub operations. Facilities include check in counters, self service kiosks, automated baggage drop, immigration and customs services, baggage claim areas, VIP lounges, retail shops, and extensive duty free outlets.

Transportation

Madrid Barajas Airport is well connected to the city and surrounding regions. Metro Line 8 links the airport to central Madrid in approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Cercanías commuter trains C1 and C10 connect Terminal 4 with major rail stations such as Atocha and Chamartín.

Public buses, including the 24 hour Airport Express Exprés Aeropuerto, provide direct service to key city locations. Official taxis and ride hailing services are available outside all terminals, and car rental companies operate on site. Short term and long term parking facilities are also available.
