Paro International Airport

Paro International Airport (PBH) is the main international gateway to Bhutan, located in the Paro Valley approximately 6 km from Paro town and about 55 km from the capital city, Thimphu. Surrounded by the Himalayas, it is the only international airport in Bhutan and handles all scheduled international passenger flights to and from the country, connecting Bhutan with key cities in South Asia and Southeast Asia.

Facilities

The airport has a single passenger terminal serving both arrivals and departures. Facilities include check in counters, immigration and customs services, baggage claim areas, airline service counters, and passenger waiting lounges. Travelers can access duty free shops, retail outlets, cafés, and restaurants offering Bhutanese and international food. Free WiFi is available in designated terminal areas. Additional services include currency exchange counters, ATMs, and travel assistance desks for visitors entering Bhutan.

Airlines

Airlines operating at PBH include Drukair Royal Bhutan Airlines and Bhutan Airlines. These carriers provide international connections to destinations such as Bangkok, Delhi, Kathmandu, Singapore, Dhaka, and Kolkata.

Transportation

Travelers can reach nearby towns and cities by taxi and private transfers arranged through hotels or tour operators. Taxi services are available outside the terminal building, providing direct access to Paro town and the capital Thimphu. Most visitors travel by pre arranged transport as part of their Bhutan travel itinerary.
