As the second-busiest airport in Bangladesh after Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, it serves both domestic and international flights, connecting the Chattogram region to major destinations in the Middle East and Asia.
Facilities
The airport has a single passenger terminal handling both arrivals and
departures. Facilities include check-in counters, immigration and customs
services, baggage claim areas, and security screening. Travelers can access
duty-free shops, retail outlets, and basic dining options offering snacks and
local cuisine.
Additional amenities include free Wi-Fi in designated
areas, prayer rooms, ATMs, currency exchange counters, VIP lounges, and car
parking facilities. Ongoing upgrades aim to improve passenger capacity and
overall service efficiency.
Airlines
Airlines operating at CGP include Biman Bangladesh Airlines, US-Bangla Airlines, Novoair, Air Arabia, Flydubai, SalamAir, and Jazeera Airways. Destinations include domestic routes such as Dhaka and Cox’s Bazar, as well as international services to Dubai, Sharjah, Muscat, Doha, Jeddah, and other key Middle Eastern cities that serve Bangladesh’s large expatriate workforce.
Transportation
Passengers can travel between the airport and Chattogram city center by taxi,
ride-hailing services, and private car. Local auto-rickshaws (CNGs) are also
available outside the terminal area. Public bus services operate along Airport
Road connecting Patenga with central Chattogram, though taxis and app-based
rides are generally more convenient for international travelers.
Car
rental services and hotel-arranged transfers are commonly used for added comfort
and reliability.
Shah Amanat International Airport continues to expand
and modernize its facilities to accommodate growing passenger traffic,
particularly international routes to the Middle East. It remains a vital hub for
trade, tourism, and labor travel in southeastern Bangladesh.
